The Minnesota CPA Society is working on a bill to streamline CPA licensure and eliminate the 150-hour rule. Their bill was introduced today in the Minnesota Senate.
This legislation would create additional pathways to CPA licensure by allowing:
A bachelor's degree with two years of general work experience, or
A master's degree with one year of general work experience.
My source at the Minnesota CPA Society says they expect the House companion bill to be introduced Thursday, barring any issues.
Minnesota is also keeping the current path of 150 hours and one year of general work experience.
And, of course, you still have to pass the CPA exam to be licensed.
